Vodka is a distilled spirit made from grains or potatoes. It originated in Eastern Europe, but is now made all over the world. Drinkers have taken
to Vodka for it’s mixability and smooth neutral taste. It comes in many different flavors as well, anywhere from blueberry to vanilla. I thought we’d go with orange, this reminds me of a childhood treat (with a lil kick, of course!) Enjoy!
Creamsicle
Fill a mixing cup with 1/2 way with ice.
1/2 oz. Vodka or Orange Vodka
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1 oz. Orange Juice
1 oz. Cream
Shake all ingredients well and strain into a cocktail glass.
Use a scoop of vanilla ice cream instead of cream & ice, and you’ve got a Dreamsicle. Serve in a large stem or hurricane glass. YUM!

When I was in California last week (don’t hate me!) I couldn’t help but think of summer and that really, it’s not too far away. I think we Rangers can make it a couple more months if we just close our eyes, lay in a tanning bed and imagine the warmth and sunshine. I think maybe drinking some tropical cocktails can help trigger some good, sunny memories, too.
Pina Colada
1 1/2 oz light rum
2 oz Coco Lopez® cream of coconut
2 oz pineapple juice
1 cup crushed ice
Pour rum, cream of coconut and pineapple juice into a blender with one cup of crushed ice. Blend until smooth, and pour into a collins glass. Garnish with a slice of pineapple and a maraschino cherry, and serve.

There’s nothing like heading to Margaritaville after a long day at work. The “Margarita” drink presents itself many ways, and over the years, there have been many a margarita recipe invented. There’s the Strawberry Margarita, Chambord Margarita, Mango Margarita, the list goes on. However, I haven’t run accross a margarita with ice cream and at this stage in the summer, this one sounded darn good. Enjoy!
Don’t forget: On Wednesdays, Goodfella’s Bar offers Margaritas for only $3!

It’s blueberry pickin’ season here on the Iron Range. And the chances are, you may want to make more than just pie and pancakes with your fresh berries. After all the hard work out in the field, you may need a refreshing frozen drink to not only cool you off, but probably relieve some sunburn. Throw this concoction in your blender and enjoy!
